Accompany your vocal recording
Recording vocals is the most important part of our Solo Artist Demo Session and its success depends also on a good accompaniment (unless you are an acapella singer). It can be recorded live while singing, recorded separately before singing (in that case we suggest to consider booking two hours) or it can be prerecorded and delivered to us during the booking process.
The Accompaniment Service
What if you can’t provide an accompaniment? In that case we can help you creating one at an affordable cost. We will ask you only to upload an acapella version of your song, even recorded with your phone. In fact, getting a rough demo is essential for us, but it will also allow you to save time in order to focus only on the vocal recording during the session.
Choose your take recording mode
Artists are different at all levels. Some of them figure out soon if the result is what they actually are looking for. Others need suggestions or a simple feedback, which is often very useful. That’s why we decided to be flexible also on this aspect of the session and give you the chance to choose if being strictly independent or relying to our staff.
Basically we offer you of choosing one of the following three options:
- Direction and Best Take Feedback
- Direction for Comping
Self-Evaluation means that the engineer will go ahead with the recording process until you will be happy of your Best Full Length Take. Make sure to note somewhere which take you consider the best so that the studio manager could pick up the right one for the final mix.
Direction and Best Take Feedback
In this case, the engineer could ask you to record additional full length takes within the session time, even if you don’t expect it. Then he will take a note of which take sounds the best for him and give you his personal feedback. At the end of the session you will take the responsibility for the final decision.
Direction for Comping
This is the most flexible of the three modes and can save a lot of the artist’s energy. In this third mode, the engineer/producer will lead the tracking phase while giving you the chance to record even small fragments of the song. The main goal here is recording all the necessary takes in order to provide enough material for the comping process.
What Vocal Comping is?
Vocal Comping is the activity of combining all the best parts of your takes into a final Comp. That means listening to all tracks recorded and choosing all slices performed better in terms of pitch, time, expressiveness and with the least possible number of eventual sound issues (click of mouth, too much sibilance, hums and others).
Orchestration By Genre
If you wanted to add more instruments to your song, like listening to your voice along a band, we offer different kind of orchestrations. The type of arrangement and the choice of instruments will vary by genre. At the moment, we generally provide the following styles: songwriter, pop, rock, swing, electronic, hip-hop.
